Boardworks Scientific Research Base: Abstract
This paper aims to show how Boardworks resources reflect the findings of hundreds of meta-analyses and hence are built from sound and objective scientifically-based principles of valid instructional methods. A wealth of recent research and empirical evidence has effectively proved that educational technology, specifically the use of multi-sensory media and manipulatives, helps students learn more effectively and improves results. Interactive resources can help increase grades and graduation rates. This paper will discuss four ways in which Boardworks resources use research-proven instructional techniques:
- Representing complex abstract ideas in dynamic, concrete form
- Explanation of concepts through the use of multi-sensory media
- Learning by doing using manipulatives
- Generation of student interest and motivation.
